Description
Olympic Air & Aegean Virtual's primary goal is the simulation of the operations of Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines in the networks of IVAO and VATSIM. Inaugurated in 1995, OAV is one of the first and oldest VAs.
Everybody is welcome in the family of Olympic Air & Aegean Virtual. Experienced pilots will join a VA with a professional simulation environment, while not neglecting the fun factor. Beginner pilots will discover a friendly environment for their first steps in the world of flight simulation and a training department dedicated to teach them about aviation and online flying. Everybody will find a warm welcome from people that share the passion of flying. OAV maintains its own TeamSpeak server where members can meet in order to spend some quality time and even find support in problems they are facing.
Olympic Air & Aegean Virtual has 7 subsidiaries that offer to the pilots the relaxing or demanding virtual career they wish to follow. Airways and Airlines follows the schedule of the real Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines with the latter simulating the financial model of a real airline with income and expenses. Aeroclub simulates an aeroclub and will test your skills having you fly to demanding airports ranging from the beautiful Greek islands to the far away Alaska. Charter flies scheduled and charter flights all over the world, while Cargo transports cargo to the 4 corners of the globe. Executive is tasked with transporting VIP passengers to/ from various business hubs - mainly - and resorts of the world. Finally Supersonic flies passengers at twice the speed of sound aboard Concordes.
The pilots of Olympic Air & Aegean Virtual get access to a state of the art dispatch office developed exclusively for the VA, through which they can follow their virtual careers. For those flying for the subsidiaries simulating the financial model of a real airline, a full range of new options is unlocked, as aircraft are now specific with unique registrations and move from airport to airport as per the flights flown. They require maintenance that depends to a great extend to the skills of the pilots. Mistakes cost! The income from tickets and cargo is calculated, as well as the expenses that include fuel, airport fees and taxes, cleaning, catering, personnel payroll, maintenance and more. All flights are recorded and PIREPs are submitted to the dispatch office automatically through OAV ACARS that was developed exclusively for the members of OAV.
